Bacchas run riot

by isleofman.com 24th November 2007
Leaders Bacchas A demolished bottom club Valkyrs B 12-0 on
Saturday to maintain their lead at the top of Mixed Division One.

There were hat-tricks for Gareth Craig and Richard Le Page, while Glen Bloxham-Mundy and Andy Bridson hit two apiece and Cat Bridson and Sharon Pope chipped in with one each as Bacchas showed why they are title favourites.

Reigning champions Valkyrs A haven’t given up the ghost and they displayed their character, coming from behind to defeat Bacchas B 2-1 – Gerry Quinn and Russell Miller the scorers as Valkyrs stayed within a point of the leaders, who have a game in hand.

And Ramsey A are in the same position after two goals from Andy Burrows, plus strikes from Ollie Webster and Ben Curtis, saw off the challenge of Phoenix A 4-0.

In the remaining top-flight game, Paul Kelly hit a treble as Falcons thrashed Celts 9-1.

Jan Carney (two), Neil Crowe (two), Juan Corlett and Andrew Harding were the other scorers with Kate Sutton grabbing the Celts’ consolation.
