Delight over Bradda Glen progress

A Port Erin man who fought to stop the Bradda Glen restaurant falling into private hands says he's delighted the building could soon be owned by a government department.

John Maddrell took his protest to Tynwald earlier this year, claiming ratepayers hadn't been consulted about the sale by the village commissioners, who own the building.

They wanted to sell it after deciding it had become become financially untenable and had cost ratepayers around ?30,000 over the years.

But yesterday it was revealed the local authority has decided to offer the restaurant, as well as the surrounding land, to DAFF for a nominal one pound fee.

Mr Maddrell (pictured) says he’s more confident about the future of the facility now it seems likely it will go into government ownership:
