Carers unhappy with DHSS response

Carers' action group ACHE has responded angrily to an interview given on Manx Radio yesterday by the Director of Social Services.

Andrew Swithinbank was defending his department's decision not to renew a contract with local firm ProTours to take people with learning disabilities to their day care centres.

It's currently costing the DHSS ?160,000 a year and Mr Swithinbank says there could be a better way of achieving the same results at a lower cost.

But ACHE spokesman John Sheppard (pictured) says it's left a number of carers concerned for the future:
