Fire at incinerator

by isleofman.com 22nd November 2007
There was a fire at the energy from waste plant on Richmond Hill this morning.

Crews were called out just before 5.30 to what was described as 'a small fire' in the incinerator used for clinical and animal waste.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus were sent in to extinguish the flames and cool the surrounding area.

The cause of the fire was the failure of a hydraulic ram which forces waste into the incinerator.
