Father of assault victim thanks public

The father of an Island man left fighting for his life after an attack in Preston is thanking the Manx public for its ongoing support.

Twenty-six year-old Alex Messenger was assaulted in the early hours of September 29.

For several weeks he was in a critical but stable condition at the Royal Preston Hospital, before being transferred to Chorley Hospital earlier this month to begin a programme of rehabilitation.

Police inquiries are continuing and three men remain on bail in connection with the incident.
