Man choked on meat

A 39 year-old Ballaugh man died from asphyxiation after choking on a piece of meat, an inquest has been told.

James Robert O’Keefe, a resident of the Grainagh Court mental health facility near Noble's Hospital, died on November 13.

Efforts were made to resuscitate him but Mr O'Keefe was pronounced dead at the accident and emergency department.

Mr O’Keefe was German born and had lived in Berkshire.

The inquest was opened and adjourned so his body could be released for the funeral and to allow inquiries to continue.
