Veterans want help from government

Ex-servicemen who have been volunteering their time to make sure the Island’s war memorials are up to standard say they need help.

Hector Duff, Harry Bacon and Roger Christian tour the Island visiting the monuments, informing local authorities if work needs to be carried out.

Mr Duff (pictured) says some local authorities aren’t paying to keep their memorials in good shape (audio file attached):

Hector Duff was speaking to David Callister on Agenda.

Following a motion tabled by Michael MHK David Cannan in Tynwald today, the Council of Minister will consider setting up a board to oversee the Island's war memorials.
