Peel won the game of the day to maintain their superb form and move within three points of leaders St George's at the top of the Sure Mobile Premier League on Saturday.

Veteran Peter Langridge notched the other with Peter Dunn and an own goal the only bright spots for Gymns.

Lee Cowley and John Callow hit two apiece as Laxey overcame Douglas Royal 5-1 at Glen Road to move up to third.

Andreas Hijearth scored the other for the Miners with Johnny Baker on target for Royal.

A last-gasp goal from Jonathan Leece clinched what could be a very important point for struggling Ramsey as they gained a 1-1 draw at Union Mills, whose goal was scored by David Thomenny.

St John's remain rooted at the foot of the table after being thrashed 4-1 at Ayre United.

Island international Johnny Cowley (two), Alex Doddrell and Sam Ferguson were the Ayre marksmen.
