Group raises money to clear mines

by isleofman.com 14th November 2007
Anti-landmine campaigners in the Isle of Man have been highlighting their work and the need for more funds to continue clearing mines around the world.

Manx Landmine Action has raised around ?10,000 to help rid former war zones of mines which kill around 20,000 innocent people each year, a third of them children.

The group grew out of Churches Together in Mann.

Co-ordinator Ffinlo Costain (pictured) says clearing landmines is both costly and labour-intensive (audio file attached):

Ffinlo Costain was speaking to Dan Davies on Talking Heads.
