Chief Minister in Washington DC

by isleofman.com 14th November 2007
The Isle of Man's top two politicians are in Washington DC on a mission to convince the American powers-that-be the Island is a well-regulated offshore financial centre.

Chief Minister Tony Brown and Treasury Minister Allan Bell are on a hectic round of meetings with US politicians and regulators.

The Island's reputation in Europe has improved in recent times, but some key players in the US are still not convinced it can meet stringent standards set by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Mr Brown (pictured) says it's an important opportunity to persuade the Americans the Island is to be trusted (audio file attached):

Tony Brown was speaking to Howard Caine, live from Washington DC, on Mandate at One.
