Marine emergency exercise

by isleofman.com 13th November 2007
Rescue services are tackling a blaze on board a ship in Manx waters – but there’s no need for alarm.

The operation is part of Exercise Mannmarex, a simulated marine emergency designed to test coastguards and offshore firefighters.

Liverpool Coastguard reported a fire on board a vessel, and the Island’s emergency services are responding to the incident.

A debriefing will take place tomorrow looking at weaknesses in the system and how responses can be improved.
