MNH ruling to be debated in Keys

After questions today, Members of the House of Keys are due to debate a report from their Management and Members Standards Committee, which concerns a major dispute which has broken out between Speaker Steve Rodan and Manx National Heritage.

The roots of the dispute are in a meeting which was held to discuss the possible acquisition by a Laxey resident of a small plot of land owned by MNH. The chair of MNH ruled that the Speaker - who is also a Trustee - should withdraw from the meeting because of a conflict of interest, which he did with reluctance believing the action to be wrong.
