Keys Questions today

by isleofman.com 13th November 2007
Steam Packet winter sailings, the cost of an Open University Course and the Post Office pensions dispute are among the issues to be raised in the House of Keys today.

MHKs will consider 24 questions when the House meets this morning, for its second sitting this month.

Marian Kenny takes a look at today's question paper:

Several questions are posed on the decision to allow civil servants to retire at 65 instead of 60 - while Onchan's Peter Karran wants to know the cost of sending some senior civil servants to Harvard Business School.

Mr Karran also has a series of questions on issues affecting those who care for relatives and the funding of long term care in nursing homes.

John Houghton wants action by the department of tourism and leisure to recover 330 thousand pounds owed for pitch rentals during TT, while Bill Henderson wants the transport minister to build further air services to Liverpool in the light of changes to the Steam Packet's winter schedule.

And Bill Malarkey asks 'do Manx students have freedom to flourish - now they face being means tested for tuition fees for Open University courses'?
