Tynwald to debate war memorials

A politician wants the government to take better care of the Island's war memorials.

Michael MHK David Cannan says he has been approached by the trustees of the War Memorial Preservation Society, who would like to see a board of custodians appointed.

Mr Cannan (pictured) says some sites are the responsibility of local authorities, but others aren't, which is why he has a motion for next week's sitting of Tynwald.

He says there would be a number of options for funding maintenance payments:
