More 'tidal surge' data on the way

A year from now the Isle of Man should have a much better chance of predicting whether a so called 'surge' or big increase in sea level could hit its shores.

Several years ago the Douglas Harbour area was flooded and parts of the east coast battered by a storm surge up the Irish Sea.

Information on tides and the weather in widely available and Director of Harbours Captain Mike Brew (pictured) says steps are being taken to ensure the Island has even more relevant data (audio file attached):

Captain Brew was speaking to John Moss on Mandate PM, after coastal communities in East Anglia narrowly escaped serious flooding in the highest tides for half a century.
