Concern over children's teeth

by isleofman.com 9th November 2007
Children in the Isle of Man are continuing to suffer from poor oral health, according to officials at the DHSS.

They say the teeth of youngsters over here are in a far worse condition than those of their counterparts in the United Kingdom.

Last year more than 200 children in the Island had to have extractions under general anaesthetic.

Director of Health Promotion Les Dorward says fluoride, diet and tooth brushing all play a part in avoiding dental problems.

She believes it's vital for children to have a more positive relationship with their dentist (audio file attached):

Yesterday the DHSS held a seminar for parents and carers of young children, to launch a dental decay prevention toolkit.
