Exceptionally dry October

by isleofman.com 3rd November 2007
The warmest November day on record, yesterday, followed hot on the heels of the driest October for 35 years.

The month had just ten days with measurable rain.

James Davies has more (text, below, from attached audio file):

This all gives amunition to the argument that the weather patterns are changing.

In October a third of the month's rain fell on just one day, the 3rd, so the rest of the month scarcely saw a drop fall from the heavens.

Temperatures, both night and day, were above the mean average, making the month the 9th warmest October ever. There were no frosts.

Wind speeds were down, at an average of just under 12 miles an hour, compared with an average of 15.3, and only October 1993 had a lower mean speed.

And for those who love gales, hail, thunder or fog, it was a bleak month indeed, as there just weren't any.
