Foxdale woman guilty of driving offence

by isleofman.com 30th October 2007
A Foxdale woman has been fined ?1,000 and banned from driving for nine months after being convicted of driving without due care and attention.

Sixty-eight year-old Patricia Power, of the Eairy, was charged following an accident at the Ballamodha Straight last November in which 47 year-old painter and decorator John Hughes of Port Erin lost his life.

A short time ago, magistrates returned a guilty verdict.

They ruled culpability lay firmly with the defendant and that a prudent driver would not have overtaken in such conditions.

Power was also ordered to pay police costs of ?539.60, had her driving licence endorsed and will have to re-take her test at the end of the ban.
