Leachate suggestion 'ridiculous'

A local environmentalist is dismissing an MHK's suggestion for the disposal of leachate from the Raggatt landfill site as 'ridiculous'.

In the House of Keys today (Tuesday) Peel MHK Tim Crookall will ask whether the waste material could be dumped in the River Neb, rather than being piped into the sea behind the town's castle, as at present.

But Secretary of the Manx Rivers Improvement Association, Brian Craig, claims it would create major problems for local wildlife (audio file attached):
