by isleofman.com 26th October 2007
A verdict of accidental death has been recorded at the inquest of a Ramsey man who died earlier this month.

40 year old David Kermeen was found in the living room of his home on October the 14th.

A post mortem found the engineer had died from a combination of dialectic cardiomyopathy - causing a weak heart - considerable alcohol consumption and choking.

Kate Skinner reports:

Mr Kermeen was an asthma sufferer and was awaiting an operation on some nasal problems, but the procedure had been delayed until he had lost weight.

On the day before he died, he had been out with colleagues and had been drinking. He walked home with his partner picking up a chinese takeaway on the way.

She went to bed leaving Mr Kermeen watching television. At about twenty past nine in the morning she found him and tried to wake him, then called an ambulance. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.

A post mortem revealed his urine alcohol level was 294 milligrames.

In recording his verdict, Coroner Michael Moyle said death was caused by a combination of factors, and offered his condolences to Mr Kermeen's family and friends.
