Clarissa Dickson Wright visit

by isleofman.com 24th October 2007
Britain's most famous, or perhaps infamous, ‘Fat Lady’ is visiting the Island tomorrow evening (Thursday).

TV cook, author and barrister Clarissa Dickson Wright will address the latest HSBC celebrity dinner, presented by the Isle of Man Sporting and Dining Club at the Mount Murray Hotel.

Along with fellow cook Jennifer Patterson, she shot to fame as one half of the ‘Two Fat Ladies’ on BBC television.

Clarissa was the UK's youngest barrister when she was called to the bar at the age of 21, but suffered from a 12 year bout of alcoholism before deciding that cooking was her true calling.

She's recently written her autobiography, ‘Spilling the Beans’, in which she speaks openly about her turbulent, traumatic and redemptive life.
