MHK targets 'gas guzzlers'

East Douglas MHK Brenda Cannell says she fears air quality in the Isle of Man will deteriorate dramatically in the next five to ten years.

She believes the rise in the number of vehicles on the road will have a devastating impact on the environment.

There are currently 64,000 privately owned cars, vans and bikes on the Island - a figure which is increasing on average by 2000 a year.

Mrs Cannell (pictured) says more incentives are needed to discourage people from using their cars:
