Constitution Bill change in Keys

A last-minute change to the method of electing members of the Legislative Council will be tabled in the House of Keys today (Tuesday).

Phil Gawne's Constitution Bill has designed a system where members of the Keys must vote to fill all the vacancies - so if there are four vacancies they would have to vote for four candidates .

But Michael MHK David Cannan (pictured) says that is not acceptable - he says members should only have to vote for candidates they believe are up to the job.

He wants the Keys to adopt the system used in general elections:
