Grand Island 'guarantees' are needed

A former Ramsey MHK says the Grand Island Hotel shouldn’t be demolished unless it’s certain a new hotel will be built in the town.

Proposals were announced earlier this month to pull down the hotel and replace it with 68 apartments in three blocks.

In a separate application, the same company, Seymar Developments, is seeking permission for a 30-bedroom hotel and 96 apartments on the Mooragh Promenade.

Leonard Singer has wholeheartedly welcomed the plans but wants guarantees a new hotel will be built before the Grand Island potentially disappears (audio file attached):
