Minister supports return of Chronicles

The English have had the 'Chronicles of the Kings of Mann and the Isles' for far too long.

That's the belief of Rushen MHK Phil Gawne who earlier this week seconded a motion from North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson, calling for the ancient text (pictured) to be returned to the Isle of Man.

It gives a fascinating account of the early history of the Island including a detailed description of the battle of Skye Hill where King Orry defeated the Manx.

While welcoming the move, Mr Gawne recognises it will be a long uphill battle if anything is to be achieved:
