Watchdog questions Packet figure

There's been a mixed reaction to the Steam Packet's new winter schedule from the Chairman of the Island's travel watchdog.

Brendan O'Friel, from TravelWatch, says using the Ben-my-Chree for sailings to Birkenhead shows the company is trying to tackle its unreliability issues.

But he believes providing a single trip to Merseyside each Saturday will leave many passengers disappointed.

The Steam Packet says its winter services accounts for only 12 per cent of overall revenue, but Mr O'Friel (pictured) says he would like to know how and when that figure was calculated:
