Clarkson PROWL dispute

by isleofman.com 19th October 2007
The dispute between TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson and a local pressure group could yet be the subject of a legal inquiry.

It’s been confirmed the Department of Transport, in conjunction with the Attorney General's Chambers, has taken legal advice in relation to a number of issues raised by the PROWL (Public Right Of Way Langness) group.

It was set up after Mr Clarkson fenced off a stretch of land outside his Langness home, complaining people were staring into his kitchen window.

PROWL is demanding the path be re-opened and last week claimed a Law Lords ruling gives people the right to use it.

In Tynwald this week, Rushen MHK Quintin Gill asked for a timely resolution to the prolonged dispute and Transport Minister David Anderson has confirmed legal advice is being considered.

The department has met Mr Clarkson and a PROWL member but no agreement could be reached.
