Support for Douglas improvements

by isleofman.com 18th October 2007
The Mayor of Douglas is urging the Treasury Minister to put his money where his mouth is, following his criticism of Douglas town centre.

In Tynwald, Allan Bell described the capital as having a 'run-down market town' image, and said visiting businessmen were not impressed.

The Mayor, Colin Cain, agrees that the Department of Transport should spend more money on progressing schemes in the town, and is asking Mr Bell to 'put his hand in his pocket', as Treasury Minister.

Manager of the Douglas Development Partnership Chris Pycroft (pictured) wants more of the town to look like the North Quay development (audio file attached):

Chris Pycroft was speaking to Dan Davies on Talking Heads.
