MLC opposed highway scheme

The Department of Transport has been asked to go back to the drawing board with its plans for Governor's Bridge.

Minister David Anderson withdrew his motion asking for ?1.25 million for 'highway improvements'.

Dudley Butt, MLC, was one of critics of the scheme. He wants the department to experiment with other systems, including encouraging drivers to allow alternate lanes of traffic to move.

Mr Butt says it works at the Summer Hill junction and would work at Governor's Bridge as well:
