Fishing vessel towed to port

A rescue operation has been taking place to help the crew of a fishing boat off the south coast of the Isle of Man.

Two people on board the Aquarian Star raised the alarm after she began taking on water shortly after 4pm.

Lifeboats from Port Erin and Port St Mary were called out and helicopters from Ireland and Anglesey were scrambled.

The boat was being towed back to the Island, and no one is thought to have been injured.

Port St Mary Lifeboat spokesman Alex Maddrell says it was a major response to what seemed like a serious incident (audio file attached):
