Fishing boat sinking

by isleofman.com 17th October 2007
Two Isle of Man lifeboats are helping a stricken fishing vessel which is sinking off the South coast.

The 31-foot Aquarian Star is seven miles from Port Erin, and both Port Erin and Port St Mary lifeboats are at the scene.

Liverpool Coastguard is co-ordinating the rescue, and two helicopters have been called from Ireland and Wales to assist.

Alex Maddrell of Port St Mary lifeboat says the coastguard asked for assistance shortly after 4pm (audio file attached):

The Aquarian Star is registered at Kilkeel in Northern Ireland.
