MHK in Burma protest

The Isle of Man should refuse to allow the products of oil from Burma to be sold here.

That's the view of Onchan MHK Peter Karran who'll call on Tynwald to take a stand on human rights, in the wake of the Burmese government's suppression of the recent uprising.

The oil company Total has major interests in Burma - and a big presence in the Island..

Mr Karran (pictured) wants the Council of Ministers to tell the company no Burmese produce should be brought here.

He says it would do much for the Island's reputation:
