Man due in court found hanged

by isleofman.com 16th October 2007
An inquest has heard a man accused of a serious criminal offence was found hanged at an address in Douglas.

Fifty-two year old Eric Patrick Quinn of Ramsey was found in the Ellesmere Apartments in Empress Drive on October 3.

The builder, originally from County Down, had been due to appear in court before the High Bailiff tomorrow.

But coroner of inquests Michael Moyle said his job wasn’t to judge Mr Quinn’s guilt.

Jason Roberts reports (text, below, from attached audio file):

The court heard Mr Quinn was found hanging at the apartment by police. His body was identified at Noble’s Hospital by his brother.

A post-mortem examination showed Mr Quinn had died from asphyxiation caused by hanging.

Mr Moyle released his body for burial and said enquiries would continue before the inquest could continue and this might take some time.

He adjourned the hearing to a date to be fixed.
