Minister to ask for more IRIS money

by isleofman.com 5th October 2007
Consultants are recommending the IRIS scheme be sliced into 'regional works' for the north and west of the Island.

At this month's sitting of Tynwald members will be told it would be the cheaper option.

They will be asked for an addition ?6.5 million pounds for Meary Veg and another ?2.5 million to buy properties affected by the vibration problem at White Hoe pumping station.

The money for Meary Veg is for 'unforseen conditions on site', delays, disruptions, commissioning costs and 'a concilliation figure' of ?1.25 million, agreed with the contractor.

Transport Minister David Anderson (pictured) says the savings mooted are attractive (audio file attached):

The IRIS update report comes from independent consultants, Mouchel Parkman of Liverpool.
