Governor's Bridge scheme

by isleofman.com 5th October 2007
One of the most famous parts of the TT course could be revamped if Tynwald gives its approval later this month.

The Department of Transport says Governor's Bridge needs to be improved for several reasons.

It says the section of road is inconsistent in its width and isn't wide enough to allow trucks, buses and coaches to pass in opposite directions.

Scheme manager, Jim Davidson, says the aim is to improve road safety and traffic capacity.

If approval is granted work would start on November 5 and be finished before next year's TT festival.

There would be two periods when road closures would be necessary, although the DoT says disruption would be kept to a minimum.
