Minister to reveal crime figures

by isleofman.com 5th October 2007
The Minister for Home Affairs has told an audience that latest crime figures for the Isle of Man would be the envy of other police forces in the British Isles.

At the annual general meeting of the Police Federation, Martyn Quayle said he would be announcing a substantial reduction in crime, when he spoke to the media at the Chief Minister's regular briefing later today.

He said the statistics also showed very high detection rates.

Mr Quayle told the AGM he was committed to examining cases put forward for additional police resources and, where justifiable, would make a strong case for them to be provided.

He said this was despite the fact resources were finite and the government, both now and in the future, had to make sure expenditure did not exceed income.
