Fire fighters learn new skills

Representatives from an urban search and rescue centre in Scotland are in the Isle of Man to brief politicians and senior fire officers about a course it's running for our fire fighters.

Six at a time will attend the facility over a period of five weeks.

The type of training was developed following the September 11 attacks in New York, and will involve instructing officers how to use new equipment, including listening and shoring devices.

Assistant Divisional Officer Geoff Quayle, from Isle of Man Fire and Rescue, says the techniques are used during large-scale incidents:
