Whitley Council pay agreement

After months of stop-start negotiations, the two sides of the Whitley have come to an agreement over public sector manual workers' pay rises.

They have now been given parity with their white collar colleagues; 2.5% backdated to April this year and a ?350 lump sum, then 3% or RPI in 2008 and 2009.

The previous round of discussions had broken down last month.

At the time the Employees' Side said there was the possibility of it going to arbitration, but it was decided to bring in the Industrial Relations Officer.
