Urban training for Manx firefighters

by isleofman.com 3rd October 2007
Thirty Manx firefighters are to be trained in urban search and rescue techniques.

The course is being run at a purpose-built centre in Strathclyde, and six officers at a time will complete the week long course.

Two firefighters from the Scottish city are visiting the Island on Thursday and Friday to brief members of the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service and Home Affairs Minister, Martyn Quayle.

The technique was developed following the September the 11th attacks in New York and concerns the rescue of people from collapsed buildings.
