Local man assaulted in Preston

A 26 year old man from the Isle of Man is in a critical but stable condition in a Lancashire hospital after being attacked in Preston in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Alex Messenger was punched in the face by another man and hit his head on the pavement as he fell.

He'd been out in Preston city centre on Friday night and was assaulted after being dropped off by a taxi in the New Hall Lane area.

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector David McKenna from Preston CID, says Alex's injuries turned out to be a lot more serious than first thought:
