Manx carer a runner-up

by isleofman.com 25th September 2007
An Isle of Man carer has been named a runner-up at a regional awards ceremony.

Sylvia Stoneman from Lonan was one of four finalists representing the Border region in ITV's Carer of the Year competition.

She has cared for her husband John for five years and has nursed him through a stroke and Parkinson's disease.

Lookaround viewers chose brothers Oliver and Owen Develing from Keswick as the regional winners.

The youngsters have saved the life of their mother, who is diabetic, on a number of occasions.

They now go through to the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards ceremony in London next month.
