Bluetongue disease being monitored

Manx farmers will have to wait to discover the extent of the spread of bluetongue in the British Isles.

A cow was found to have the disease, transmitted by midges, at a farm in Suffolk.

The disease is not contagious but often leads to death in sheep.

Animals with it experience discomfort, with flu-like symptoms, and swelling and haemorrhaging in and around the mouth and nose.

Agriculture Minister, Phil Gawne (pictured), says it's hard to predict the long-term effects of an outbreak:
