Kerbside collection plans

Government supported kerbside collection schemes in Douglas, Braddan and Onchan will begin next September.

The areas were identified after the Department of Local Government and the Environment's recycling team assessed the density of population in the Island and the impracticalities of delivering an all-Island scheme straight away.

Residents will be asked to save their paper, metals, glass and plastics.

Annual costs for phase one are likely to be in the region of ?350,000.

Recycling Manager Stephanie Gray (pictured) says they also will be providing better recycling facilities in other parts of the Island:
