More trouble for bailed DJ

by isleofman.com 18th September 2007
A Court in Douglas has heard how BBC DJ and television presenter Andy Kershaw caused fear, alarm and distress to his ex-partner, when he tried to force an entry to her house in Stanley Road, Peel at the end of last month.

It was also revealed that Kershaw was caught drink driving three days ago, with a breathalyser reading of 57 micro-grammes.

Kershaw, of Shore Road, Peel admitted both offences and was released on bail with a number of strict conditions.

Social inquiry reports are being produced, and he will be back in court on October 9th.

The media section of the courtroom was packed as Kershaw appeared in the dock and admitted the two offences in a very confident voice.

The first related to a restraining order, imposed after his conviction, on August 1st, under the Prevention from Harassment Act.

The restraining order said he wasn't to contact his ex-partner, Juliette Banner, or Jim Imrie, at an address in Stanley Road, Peel.

However, on August 29th, he attempted to force his way into the house, causing fear, alarm and distress.

Bail conditions include a ban from a number of streets in Peel and all on-licence premises, as well as a curfew from 9pm to 7am.

The drink driving offence was committed in his Toyota Previa car, and led to the further bail condition, that he must not drive.

Kershaw, who was told to seek referral for medical assistance at his previous court appearance, joked as he came out of the courtroom, asking if people wanted his autograph.
