Death of Norman Sayle

Renowned Manx artist Norman Sayle has died, after battling illness.

He was 80.

Earlier this year the watercolour painter was awarded the first Tynwald Medal of Honour, for his outstanding contribution to Manx society.

He was too ill to attend the annual open air Tynwald at St John's to accept the medal, and had been due to receive it when the Court sat next month.

Chairman of the Honours Committee, Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan (pictured), says the plan was changed because of Mr Sayle’s illness (audio file attached):
