Happy Birthday Groudle!

Another chapter will be written in the Groudle Glen Railway story this lunchtime (Sunday) - and the public’s invited to join in the fun.

The 25th anniversary of the railway's restoration is to be celebrated with a ceremony at midday and the official opening of the new engine shed.

Members of the public can then take a trip out to the tea rooms at Sea Lion Rocks.

Known as 'the line that goes uphill to the sea', the railway is operated entirely by volunteers and owned by the 'Isle of Man Steam Railway Supporters' Association'.

One of the founder volunteers, Tony Beard, says those involved look back with great pride at what’s been achieved (audio file attached):
