Minister on flap-gate failings

Transport Minister David Anderson (pictured) says it's 'unfortunate' the flap-gate in Peel Harbour needs to have remedial work carried out, after a relatively short period of use.

Preparatory work was undertaken last week and modifications are due to get underway on September 19, subject to weather conditions.

It's hoped the work will allow the flap-gate to operate properly even when there are exceptionally high tides and heavy rain, a scenario which was apparently overlooked during the planning stage of the facility:
