A planning appeal by Cemex Island Aggregates has ended in failure after forms were filled out incorrectly.

Managing Director Mike Shaw put his name in a box that should have had the company’s name in it, and a planning inspector said he had no right to appeal.

The application, to redevelop Dreemskerry Quarry, is now in limbo after the inspector’s report was sent to Local Government and Environment Minister John Shimmin.

The company says it’s disappointed and will be considering its next step.

Mr Shaw put his name on an appeal against the planning committee’s decision to refuse proposals for the quarry.

But planning inspector Graham Self said directors and companies were not the same thing and other than being Managing Director, Mr Shaw had no connection to the plans.

He ruled there was no reason for Mr Shaw’s appeal to be heard and it was too late for Cemex Island Aggregates to lodge its own appeal.

Mr Self has recommended no further action be taken because the appeal was invalid.
