Border news from Newcastle?

The Isle of Man Communication Commission has been told of possible plans to join the ITV Border and Tyne Tees news rooms together.

The move, along with the consolidation of other ITV regional newsrooms, would aim to save up to ?40 million annually, which it is claimed, would go towards programming.

Managing Director at Border, David Merrall, says it's too early to say what effect this would have on Manx coverage:
