Celtic League on parole

The Celtic League has called for an end to the closed and unhealthy secrecy of the Isle of Man's parole system.

Director of Information, Bernard Moffatt (pictured), says the board's deliberations are carried out in secret and who its members are accountable to is as big a mystery as who selects and appoints them.

The UK's High Court recently ruled England and Wales' Parole Board was in need of an overhaul to give it greater objective independence.

Mr Moffatt says the decision shows that system is flawed, but at least it's possible to find out how it works and who sits on the board, unlike here.

And he rejects suggestions board members need to protect their identities:
